Ch\u00e2teau Hauterive, as indicated by its name, is located high up on the M\u00e9doc peninsula and enjoys a breathtaking view of the Reysson marshes. A little anecdote about the castle which dominates the commune of Saint-Germain d’Esteuil: it seems that the castle would have welcomed General de Gaulle for a few nights with his troop and his right-hand man Geoffroy De Courcel before leaving Bordeaux for England on 17 June 1940.
