Château Hauterive 2018

8,70

Bright ruby colour with deep and intense garnet and dark black reflection. The nose reveals strong ripe blackcurrant fruit and sweet spices such as vanilla and white pepper. The sharp attack, good balance on the palate, between the aromatic power, and the melted vanilla oak, elegant and silky round supported by powdery tannins.

Château Hauterive, as indicated by its name, is located high up on the Médoc peninsula and enjoys a breathtaking view of the Reysson marshes. A little anecdote about the castle which dominates the commune of Saint-Germain d’Esteuil: it seems that the castle would have welcomed General de Gaulle for a few nights with his troop and his right-hand man Geoffroy De Courcel before leaving Bordeaux for England on 17 June 1940. The next day, De Gaulle made the famous appeal to the French Resistance on the BBC.
