Great distinctions in Montreal – SMV 2025

  • by

The Sélections Mondiales des Vins 2025 competition was held in Montreal from October 8 to 11.

More than 1,550 wines from 26 countries were tasted by an international jury made up of 60 industry professionals. The Sélections Mondiales des Vins competition is one of the most important wine competitions in North America. Each year, it brings together tasters from around the world to evaluate thousands of wines based on strict criteria of quality and expression.

Among these many wines, the wines of Vignobles Lamont stood out with several gold medals — a recognition that brings us great joy and means a lot to us.

🏅 Our award-winning wines

Château Chenu Lamont – AOC Bordeaux Supérieur 2022: Gold Medal

The color of this wine shows a ruby hue with youthful reflections and bluish nuances, clear and bright. The nose is seductive, evoking black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant. With aeration, a subtle touch of oak emerges, expressed mainly through notes of licorice, along with grilled, toasted, and roasted nuances. On the palate, the attack is round and fleshy, revealing persistent flavors of blackberry and blackcurrant. The tannins, present yet elegant, are expected to harmonize beautifully with time.

Château d’Argan – AOC Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2019: Gold Medal

A bright robe with a deep and intense ruby color and purple reflections. The first nose is expressive, marked by notes of ripe fruits (raspberry and blackcurrant). The second nose confirms the fruitiness, supported by spicy and licorice notes.

On the palate: a good attack with black fruit notes, an elegant structure, concentrated and complex aromas, a generous and fleshy mouthfeel, and well-integrated oak. A beautiful balance with long-lasting persistence. The finish is smooth, combining ripe fruits with powdery tannins.

Château d’Argan – AOC Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2020: Gold Medal

Deep garnet color with black reflections, bright and clear. The nose is expressive with aromas of redcurrant, licorice, blackcurrant, dried fruits (hazelnut), and soft spices like vanilla and cinnamon. Subtle notes of peony and blond tobacco.

On the palate, it is balanced and elegant with a frank, rich, and dense attack. The mid-palate is elegant with a beautiful texture. The finish is enveloping, featuring notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and cocoa bean.

Food pairings: grilled white meat (lamb or veal), roasted red meat.

These distinctions primarily reflect the patient and attentive work carried out throughout the year — in the vineyards, in the cellar, and at every stage of winemaking.

At Château Chenu Lamont, Yannick and his team carefully and sensitively oversee every detail, creating wines imbued with elegance and balance.

At Château d’Argan, Amélie and her team nurture the cuvées with passion, respecting the identity of the terroir and the richness of each vintage.

Beyond the medals, this recognition highlights the consistency of collective work, the patience in every gesture, and the value of time — all essential to the sincere expression of our Médoc and Bordeaux terroirs.

We are happy to share this wonderful news with you, wine lovers and partners, who follow our wines and vintages with loyalty. 🍷🌿
