A small anecdote about the château overlooking the commune of Saint-Germain d’Esteuil: it is said that the château hosted General de Gaulle for a few nights with his troops and his right-hand man, Geoffroy De Courcel, before leaving Bordeaux for England on June 17, 1940. The next day, De Gaulle made his famous call for Resistance to the French people on the BBC airwaves.
Sustainable viticulture, certified HVE (High Environmental Value).

Average yield: 24 hectoliters per hectare. Average age of the vines: 42 years
After a mild winter and a rather cool spring, budburst was somewhat late. Subsequently, flowering was quite heterogeneous, partly due to humid conditions. However, from mid-June onwards, dry and warm weather allowed the vines to quickly make up for their initial delay. The very dry month of July caused slight water stress, but two periods of rainfall in early August proved highly beneficial in alleviating the early signs of drought in the vineyard. This ensured that veraison began under the best conditions and progressed in a completely uniform manner. The first days of September were marked by temperate weather with cool nights, favoring excellent concentration. All conditions were therefore in place for an exceptional vintage.
The harvest is mechanical. Separate vinification of grape varieties is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Long maceration (29 days), alcoholic fermentation with regular pump-overs and rack and returns, malolactic fermentation in tank. Aging is planned for 18 months, with 60% of the volume aged in French oak barrels, including 20% in new barrels.
