The year 2017 will remain memorable for every winemaker. After a dry and mild winter, spring began under similar conditions, punctuated by a few welcome showers. In April, temperatures dropped, bringing a first frost episode on April 21, affecting 10% of the vineyard. A week later, on April 28, a second, more intense frost hit 50% of the estate. Despite this challenge, the vines demonstrated remarkable resilience, resuming their growth after about fifteen days. Although the harvest was reduced by a quarter, the remaining grapes benefited from favorable weather conditions throughout the season. The year remained generally dry, with a 35% water deficit, leading to excellent berry concentration. Harvesting began in late September under ideal conditions, ensuring optimal grape quality. While yields were lower, the 2017 vintage stands out for its character and remarkable expressiveness.
Mechanical harvesting method. Separate winemaking of grape varieties, in respective temperature control fermentation tanks. Long vatting (25 days). Vinified in the Bordeaux traditional way. 12 months’ aging in oak barrels.
