Château Grand Jour 2018

8,90

Deep ruby robe that imparts viscosity and multiple tears to the glass. The nose is pleasing and inviting, developing scents of red and black fruits and fruit pulp, followed by fragrances of Morello cherries and licorice. Gradually, aromas reminiscent of milky coffee and a minty character emerge. On the palate, it’s a wine with a round and fleshy attack that delivers these fruity aromas with a touch of licorice. The finish is slightly firmer but not excessive. The overall balance and harmony lead to a finish where notes of cocoa reappear.

The 2018 vintage stands out among the great Bordeaux wines due to the ideal climatic conditions that shaped its development. A cool and rainy winter, followed by a dry and sunny spring, favored optimal vine growth. The summer was hot but well-balanced, with dry days and cool nights, creating perfect conditions for a slow and even maturation of the grapes. Like other great wines of 2018, the Bordeaux of this year is characterized by exceptionally high-quality tannins, perfectly ripe, imparting a velvety and silky texture to the wine. This vintage also stands out for its aromatic richness, with notes of ripe fruits, spices, and beautiful complexity. The palate is dense and powerful, supported by a fine yet present tannic structure, offering a remarkable balance between roundness and freshness. With impressive aging potential, 2018 is an exceptional vintage that competes with the best in the region. It will captivate wine enthusiasts with its depth, finesse, and aging potential and remains a must-have for any collector or Bordeaux lover.
