Château Millaud Montlabert 2021

23,50 €

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this parcel selection is distinguished by its bright, deep purple colour. The complex and refined nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruit and liquorice, evolving into notes of mocha and roasting, imparted by 12 months of ageing in new oak barrels.

On the palate, this cuvée is characterised by its fine structure, elegant freshness and velvety tannins. The long, persistent finish reveals delicate fruity and toasted notes.

It pairs beautifully with a seven-hour slow-cooked leg of lamb or caramelised suckling pig.

Sustainable viticulture with respect for the vine and the environment.

Planting density: 6,500 vines per hectare. Average yield: 53 hectolitres per hectare.

Double Guyot pruning, shoot thinning, green harvesting and leaf removal.

Harvesting takes place mechanically in late September and early October. The grapes are manually sorted on a sorting table upon arrival at the winery.

The different grape varieties are vinified separately in temperature-controlled concrete vats. A long maceration of 25 days is carried out, including a one-week pre-fermentation cold maceration at 8°C. Alcoholic fermentation is conducted with regular pumping-over and punching-down to achieve gentle extraction while preserving the natural quality and balance of the tannins.

The wine is aged entirely in concrete vats initially, followed by 12 months of ageing in oak barrels.
