Château D’Argan 2016

12,20

Cru Bourgeois

Bright robe with deep and intense ruby-red color, dark with violet reflections. The expressive initial nose is marked by ripe fruit notes (blackberry) and peony. The second nose confirms the fruitiness, supported by woody, vanilla, spicy, and peppery notes. On the palate, a strong attack with black fruit notes, a concentrated and complex aromatic structure, a generous and fleshy mouthfeel, with robust oak presence. A beautiful and persistent balance in the mouth. The finish is enveloped, combining ripe fruits and softened tannins.

Château d’Argan, which dominates the township of Saint- Germain d’Esteuil, offers the most romantic exceptional sunrise on the Reysson swamp. The main building used nowadays as the winery, was once a port before the draining of the wetland.

Sustainable growing respectful of the plant and the environment.

Average yield : 30 hectoliters per hectare. Average vine age: 40 years.

The spring of 2016 was marked by exceptional rainfall, which significantly replenished the soil’s water reserves. This abundance of water allowed the vines to weather an unusually hot and dry summer without difficulty. The maturation of the grapes then unfolded under ideal conditions: a mild climate, little precipitation, sunny days, and cool nights. These rare conditions in Bordeaux resulted in grapes with beautiful concentration, combining aromatic intensity, elegant structure, and perfectly balanced acidity. A remarkable and atypical vintage.

The harvest is mechanized. Separate vinification of grape varieties in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. Extended maceration (25 days), alcoholic fermentation with regular pumpovers and rack-and-returns, malolactic fermentation in tanks. Aging for 18 months, including 35% in new French oak barrels for 12 months.
